When designing your curtains, choosing the right fit is key to getting the perfect look for your home..
There are two different types of ‘fits’ for curtains. Find your fit before measuring your window.

The curtain track is attached to the studs in your wall. This option is recommended if you have cornices.
  • This is because cornices will cause a “top fix” curtain to be positioned too far out from the window, and will prevent you from having a wall to wall look.
Allows you to have a luxurious wall to wall look

The curtain track is attached to ceiling battens

  • Please note that if you install a “top fit” track only your ceiling plaster, it will not be properly secured.
  • Check to see what way the battens in your roof run.

This option is not recommended if you have cornices

  • Cornices will cause your curtain to sit further out from your window, and will prevent you from have a wall to wall look.

Perfect option if your home has a bulkhead

Tips:

  • Always measure in MM
  • Double check all of your measurements
  • Write “width” or “drop” next to your measurements to avoid confusion
  • Always put width first
  • Don’t make any adjustments to your measurements unless instructed to here or by our team members
  • It’s better to be 1mm too short than 1mm too long

Measure Your Width

For wall to wall curtains
  • Measure the exact width from one wall to the other
For curtains framing your window
  • Measure the exact width of your window
  • Add 30% to your measurement to provide space for your curtain to stack off the window.

Measure Your Drop

Mark the left, middle and right of where you would like the curtain track to sit. Ensure that they are all level.
  • Measure from the distance to the floor on the left, middle and right.
  • Take the shortest measurement, that’s your drop.
  • Note: If you have more than a 20mm difference due to an uneven floor, call us on 1300 772 807 to discuss.

Measure Your Width

  • Measure the width you would like your curtains to be
  • Note: Measure inside of your cornices if you have them

Measure Your Drop

  • Measure from your ceiling down to the floor on the left, middle and right.
  • Take the shortest measurement, that’s your drop.
  • Note: If you have more than a 20mm difference due to an uneven floor or ceiling, call us on 1300 772 807 to discuss.
