Proper care and cleaning are essential to maintaining your sheer curtains delicate appearance and ensuring their longevity. Different fabrics require specific care methods, and we’ve compiled a detailed guide to help you care for each of our sheer curtain fabrics.
Below, you’ll find care instructions tailored to our unique fabric collections.

For Oakbank Linen (WCAA Care Label 3):

Preparation for Cleaning:

  • Remove hooks, rings, and trims before cleaning.
  • Gently vacuum regularly with the appropriate attachment to remove dust and maintain the fabric’s appearance.

Washing:

  • Warm hand wash recommended.
  • Use lukewarm water (up to 40°C).
  • Avoid harsh detergents; use a mild soap.
  • Do not wring or twist the fabric; it could lead to distortion of its natural shape.

Bleaching:

  • Do not use bleach.
  • Bleaching agents can damage the natural fibers and affect the colour of the linen.

Drying:

  • Drip dry in the shade without delay to prevent water marks and maintain the fabric’s texture.
  • Do not tumble dry, as high heat can damage linen fibers.
  • For best results, hang curtains by their hooks to dry, which helps maintain their shape and appearance.

Ironing:

  • Iron lengthways while the fabric is still slightly damp for the best finish.
  • Use a warm iron setting.
  • If the fabric is dry, use a steam iron or a damp cloth as a protective layer between the iron and the linen.

Dry Cleaning:

  • Dry cleaning is recommended, especially for difficult stains (labeled as Dry Clean P50).
  • It’s a safe and effective way to preserve the fabric’s quality and appearance.

Shrinkage:

  • Be aware of possible shrinkage of about 3% after the first wash.

For Mojave, Catalina, Sierra & Bora (WCAA Care Label 4):

Preparation for Cleaning:

  • Remove all hooks, rings, and trims before cleaning.
  • Regularly and gently vacuum the fabric using an appropriate attachment to prevent dust accumulation and preserve the fabric’s appearance.

Washing:

  • Hand wash these fabrics in cold water (up to 30°C) with a mild detergent is recommended.
  • Avoid soaking the fabric, and do not wring or twist it, as this could lead to distortion or damage.

Bleaching:

  • Do not use bleach or any strong chemical cleaners.
  • These substances can harm the fabric fibers and cause discolouration.

Drying:

  • After washing, allow the fabric to air dry by laying it flat or hanging it up, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight.
  • Do not use a tumble dryer, as the intense heat can be detrimental to the fabric’s integrity.

Ironing:

  • If ironing is necessary, use a low to medium heat setting.
  • Always iron on the reverse side of the fabric or place a protective cloth between the iron and the sheer curtain to avoid damage.

Dry Cleaning:

  • If dry cleaning is required, choose a gentle process suitable for delicate fabrics.
  • This method is particularly recommended for handling difficult stains or maintaining the fabric’s optimal condition.
By following these care instructions, you can ensure your sheer curtains remain a beautiful and functional part of your home décor, retaining their quality and elegance over time.
